The digestive system is one of the most important system of our human body. As it digests the food eaten by us and utilises it in the form energy .

The digestion basically begin in the mouth itself as the whole mouth part is called the Buccal cavity . Which consists of the salivary glands which secretes salivary amylse which breaks down the Carbohydrates into Glucose. The food then enters the oesophagus and the oesophagus then take the food into the stomach in the form of Bolus ( a semi solid substance).

In the stomach there are a lot of enzymes present like the HCl which is best know for making the environment in the stomach acidic and decreases the pH level and the food easily the easily breaks down into peptones and in the stomach there is only the digestion of proteins and it is digested by the enzyme present called the Pepsin. There is a Mucosa which is the inner linning of the stomach which protects the stomach form the HCl.

There is the largest gland present in the abdomen on the right side the liver, Which does not has any enzymes present but it emulsifies the fats from the Bile juice, which is eventually secreted by itself and it contains bile salts and bile pigments which is transported by a common bile duct into then small intestine .

Now there is a gland which is active in both Endocrinetic reactions and Exocrinetic reactions and the work of it in the process of digestion is it secretes important juices which further digests the proteins and lipids. It basically contains the pancreatic juice , trypsin and lipids . The enzymes are further transported into the the small intestine by a common bile duct which also transports the bile juice into the small intestine.

Then the small intestine comes where nothing but the absorption of the nutrients takes place , The nutrients which were broken by the enzymes of the glands . The absorption of the nutrients takes place by the small finger like projections called villi.

And in the large intestine the absorpbtion of the water takes place and then the waste products are transported into the rectum which is present just above the anus. Anus the opening of excretion of waste products.

The total digestion of food takes around 36 hours . The moving of food in the intestinal part takes 4 hours .
